The lake was a little low, about 3% of capacity. But the weather cleared up from a brief storm on Friday and the forecast was for clear skies and cold temperatures.
The event was held near the marina on a huge patch of sand. The park staff created a large loop that was ringed with community booths offering hot cider and various munchies.
And light displays.
And campfires.
And a Gnome. A real one.
We parked across from the booth of the Friends Of Elephant Butte State Park.
Then the sun went to bed and the party started.
So I walked around the loop. Accompanied at various times by Freddy and the Gnome.
Here is a cool two shot sequence. I used a tripod to take all the photos in this post and I liked how the light changed the whole ambience in the scene below.
Pretty nifty. My camera settings ranged from 1/8 to 1/2 of a second shutter speed at f7. Yeah, I could have got a little faster speed at f3 but would have lost some depth of field.
Anyway, back to the loop.
The largest and last one was at the Friends of Elephant Butte site.
Now that is a warm fire!
I alluded to the Gnome earlier. She is in the photo below.
Did you spot her?
Here is another photo. She is right in the middle.
No? OK, I will turn on the flash.
Strike a pose, Gnome.
Regards,
Greg and....ouch...
"Freddy, why did you nip me?"
"I just wanted to say that I liked the Gnome. She gave me good scratches."
"Well, you are lucky. I didn't get any."
Regards,
Us.
