Don't believe me?
Well check out these lyrics.
"'Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the Oasis (State Park)
Oh, I've got friends in low places"
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the Oasis (State Park)
Oh, I've got friends in low places"
Now he obviously couldn't use the whole name because it wouldn't rhyme. But the intent is obvious, right? No? I guess I was wrong.
Anyway, the park is just a half dozen miles north of Portales, NM which contains a Super Walmart for all your camping and food needs. Yipee!
And for such a small park, around 30 sites, it has TWO wonderful restrooms with hot showers.
There is a group shelter and playground available for grouping and playing.
About half the sites have electricity, a few with 50 amp and sewer connections. One third of the sites can be reserved.
Here is a peek at some of the electric sites.
And some of the others.
There is a trail that meanders through the grassy sand dunes.
But most of them lead to a delightful little lake.
OK, here is another question. Winners get a delicious taco. It's double or nothing for the folks who answered the taco question correctly in my last blog.
How many ducks are in the picture below.
If you said one you are....Wrong! There are nine.
The other ones were wearing camouflage.
Freddy and I walked around the lake every morning.
Even on cloudy mornings.
An ADA fishing spot is a nice touch.
Fishing is very popular here and several fishing derby's are held every year. I missed the Catfish one and was too early for the Kids Derby. The State needs a Public Relations Coordinator to coordinate my visits....
So hop in your ride, crank up some Garth, and slip on down to the Oasis.
Maybe you will meet some new friends.
We did.
Regards,
Greg and Freddy
